Opportunity Overview

This open Data Centre Infrastructure Management (DCIM) & Data Centre Predictive Modelling (DCPM) study aims to establish the feasibility of designing & building an heterogeneous tool to help Data Centre Managers see through the complexity within the Data Centre & to select a mode of working which offers more energy efficient compute facilities.
Data from thermal monitoring devices will be combined with hardware heat and power-draw statistics to produce real-time & predictive models of the data centre. Alongside checking the power that is being used by servers, storage and networking devices, the tool aims to show those applications which run hot within the datacentre. The software will show current power and heat hotspots in the hardware & applications, & will model potential changes allowing companies to move applications and/or equipment in order to manage the carbon footprint of the Data Centre.
