Opportunity Overview

The objective of the Accelerating Sustainable and Clean Energy Access Transformation Project using the Multiphase Programmatic Approach (MPA) is to increase access to electricity for households, enterprises, and public institutions in Burundi. There are four components to the project, the first component being network reinforcement outside of Bujumbura. The second component is the rehabilitation, densification, modernization, and extension of distribution network in Bujumbura and surrounding areas. The third component is the private sector distribution pilot. Finally, the fourth component is the power sector sustainability. This component will support reforms, sector dialogue, and institutional development to ensure power sector sustainability with the aim to accelerate electricity access in Burundi.
