Access to Finance & Economic Opportunities Project – Mais Oportunidades

The development objective of the Access to Finance and Economic Opportunities Project for Mozambique is to support the growth of micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in Mozambique by: (i) increasing access and usage of financial services; and (ii) increasing access to economic opportunities. The project comprises of three components. The first component, promote access and usage of financial services for MSMEs consists of following sub-components: (i) facilitate commercial lending to creditworthy SMEs and Microfinance Institution (MFIs) through credit guarantees; (ii) facilitate commercial lending to climate-resilient and women-owned MSMEs through a line of credit; (iii) improve household and enterprise resilience in climate-affected areas through matched savings program (MSP); and (iv) support to improve Participating Financial Institution (PFI) product offerings and achieve performance standards through technical assistance. The second component, improve access to economic opportunities and jobs for MSMEs aims to improve access to economic opportunities and jobs by taking an integrated approach and working across three mutually reinforcing levels: the ecosystem, market, and firm. It consists of following sub-components: (i) ecosystem level: subnational and sectoral planning and business environment reforms for economic transformation; (ii) market level: last-mile infrastructure in areas of economic opportunities; and (iii) firm level: expanding capabilities, quality, and access to catalytic grants for SMEs. The third component, project management will provide the necessary technical, advisory, and financial support for the adequate implementation, management, and coordination of project activities.
