Achat d'un système de microscopie électronique à balayage (MEB) équipé d'une source de type Field Emission Gun ainsi que d'un détecteur EDS (Energy-Dispersive X-ray Spectrometry) permettant la réalisation d'imageries morphologiques et compositionnelles sur des échantillons minéralogiques et géologiques. Ce microscope sera également équipé d'un détecteur d'électrons secondaires (secondary electrons- SE) et d'un détecteur d'électrons rétrodiffusés (backscattered electrons – BSE), ainsi que de logiciels capable de fournir facilement des mappings compositionnels EDS de bonne résolution. La chambre du microscope devra présenter une taille suffisante pour accueillir des échantillons géologiques dépassant 15 cm de diamètre pour 5 cm de hauteur, et un système de métallisation des échantillons au graphite sera fourni. Ces instruments seront intégrés dans le parc analytique du Laboratoire de Minéralogie de l'ULiège et permettront de répondre aux besoins spécifiques d'une large communauté scientifique, incluant notamment les membres du Département de Géologie et du Centre Européen d'Archéométrie.
