Burundi Digital Foundations Project

The development objective of Digital Foundations Project for Burundi is to increase broadband internet access, especially to underserved communities, and improve government’s capacity to deliver public services digitally. This project has three components. 1) The first component, Digital Access and Inclusion, has the following components: (i) Enabling environment for broadband and e-service access; (ii) Local connectivity access; and (iii) Local access and digital inclusion enablers. 2) The second component, Digital Public Service Delivery Enablers, has the following sub-components: (i) Institutional, legal, governance and technology frameworks for e-services; (ii) Shared digital government infrastructure and platforms; and (iii) Digitalization of select services and flagship use-cases. 3) The third component, Institutional Coordination and Project Management, aims to finance the borrower’s project management and coordination capacity, including procurement, financial management (FM), and monitoring and evaluation (M&E), as well as environmental and social safeguards management.
