Burundi Jobs and Economic Transformation Project

The development objective of Jobs and Economic Transformation Project for Burundi is to improve Micro, Small and Medium Enterprise (MSMEs’) access to finance, especially for MSMEs owned by women and refugees, and increase job creation by MSMEs. This project has five components. 1) The first component, MSME access to markets and value chain development, has the following sub-components: (i) Expand MSME access to sustainable productive infrastructure; (ii) Upgrade MSME capabilities; and (iii) Supplier development and market linkage programs. 2) The second component, Financial inclusion and sustainable access to finance for MSMEs, has the following sub-components: (i) Strengthen credit infrastructure; (ii) Enhance MSME access to credit; and (iii) Adoption of digital financial services. 3) The third component, Sustainable business enabling environment and investment climate support, has the following sub-components: (i) Business enabling environment reforms; and (ii) Institutional capacity building for MSME support and private sector development.
