The development objective of the Skills for Jobs : Women and Youth Project for Burundi is to improve access and market relevance of supported skills development training and entrepreneurship opportunities for youth, particularly for women and refugees. The project comprises of three components. The first component, improving labor-market orientation of skills development aim to support strategic interventions at the institutional level and results orientation of supported skills development programs in priority economic sectors in Burundi. It consists of following sub-components: (i) enhancing labor market responsiveness of formal training providers; (ii) modernizing and expanding informal apprenticeships; and (iii) developing digital skills for the knowledge economy. The second component, fostering entrepreneurship objective is to grow a new generation of opportunity entrepreneurs. It consists of following sub-components: (i) strengthening entrepreneurial skills; (ii) startup grants; and (iii) entrepreneurship ecosystem support. The third component, reinforcing data systems for market-oriented skills development, project management, and monitoring and evaluation consists of following sub-components: (i) reinforcing data systems for market-oriented skills development; (ii) project management and monitoring and evaluation reinforcing data systems for market-oriented skills development; and (iii) contingent emergency response component.
