Cairo Alexandria Trade Logistics Development Project

The development objective of Cairo Alexandria Trade Logistics Development Project for Egypt is to improve the performance and support the decarbonization of the logistics and transportsectorsin the Alexandria‐6th October‐Greater Cairo Area railway corridor. This project has two components. (i) The first component, Railway Sector Reform, Project Delivery, Stakeholder Engagement, Women’s Economic Empowerment, and Private Sector Participation, has the following sub-components: (i) Railway sector reform; (ii) 2 Project‐delivery activities; (iii) Promotion of Women’s Employment and Stakeholder Engagement; (iv) Enabling private capital mobilization (PCM) for the railway sector; and (v) Decarbonization study. 2) The second component, Track extension, railway signaling modernization, and selected track upgrades to create a railway bypass around the Greater Cairo Area, has the following sub-components: (i) Greenfield Link; (ii) Marazeek–Wahat Section Upgrade; (iii) El Bashteel‐Itay El Baroud Section; and (iv) El Itihad‐Tafaroa Section.
