Cambodia: Solid Waste and Plastic Management Improvement Project

The development objective of Solid Waste and Plastic Management Improvement Project for Cambodia is to improve solid waste and plastic management in selected areas, and in case of an Eligible Crisis or Emergency, respond promptly and effectively to it. This project has four components. 1) The first component, Institutional Strengthening for Solid Waste and Plastic Management, has the following sub-components: (i) Strengthening of institutions, legislation, policies, and regulations for solid waste and plastic management; and (ii) Strengthening of waste information, cost calculations of solid waste services, and reporting systems. 2) The second component, Integrated Solid Waste and Plastic Management, Planning, Monitoring, and Capacity Building for Participating Provinces, Municipalities, and Districts, has the following sub-components: (i) Strengthening the capacity of participating provinces, municipalities and districts in managing and monitoring waste services and improving solid waste and cleanliness conditions; and (ii) Providing transaction advisory services and developing geospatial waste information systems to enable improved waste collection and disposal services. 3) The third component, Solid Waste and Plastic Management Infrastructure, supports reducing waste (including plastic) leakage to the environment, improving resource efficiency and reducing environmental pollution in participating provinces and municipalities. 4) The fourth component, Contingent Emergency Response, will provide immediate response to an Eligible Crisis or Emergency, as needed.
