Climate Resilient Roads for the North Project

The development objective of the Climate Resilient Roads for the North Project for Mozambique is to improve climate resilient road connectivity in the Northern Provinces of Mozambique. The project comprises of four components. The first component, climate resilient road connectivity improvement will support the improvement of roads and bridges in the north. It consists of following sub-components: (i) improvement and maintenance of road network; and (ii) construction of bridges. The second component, safe access and mobility improvement will include an integral approach to road safety. The third component, institutional strengthening and project management will finance incremental operating costs, including for office rent if needed, and institutional strengthening activities with a focus on northern Mozambique. The fourth component, contingent emergency response component (CERC) will enable access to rapid financing by providing for a possible reallocation of uncommitted project funds in the event of a natural disaster, either by a formal declaration of emergency by the national or provincial Government or upon a formal request from the Government of Mozambique (GoM).
