The development objective of Post-Kenneth Recovery and Resilience Project for Comoros is to support recovery and increase disaster and climate resilience of select public and private infrastructure in the areas affected by Cyclone Kenneth. This project has four components. 1) The first component, Recovery and Resilience in the Housing Sector, aims to support the development and implementation of a national housing reconstruction program for the most vulnerable cyclone‐affected households and the reconstruction of one thousand houses across the three islands. It includes following sub-components: (i) Supporting housing reconstruction; and (ii) Strengthening the urban system and construction standards. 2) The second component, Coastal Resilience and Infrastructure Rehabilitation, aims to strengthen coastal defense in selected vulnerable stretches of the coastline affected by the cyclone, and rehabilitate critical sections of the primary road section going through Foumbouni. It includes following sub-components: (i) Coastal resilience and infrastructure rehabilitation; and (ii) Technical assistance. 3) The third component, Integrated Disaster Risk Management and Contingent Emergency Response Component (CERC), includes following sub-components: (i) Supporting emergency response; (ii) Strengthening integrated disaster risk management (DRM); and (iii) Contingent Emergency Response Component CERC. 4) The fourth component, Project Management, Risk Management and Monitoring and Evaluation, aims to support the implementation of all project activities.
