Decentralized Sustainable and Resilient Rural Water and Sanitation Project

The development objective of Decentralized Sustainable and Resilient Rural Water and Sanitation Project for Haiti is to increase access to inclusive, resilient, and sustainable rural basic water and sanitation services. This project has four components. 1) The first component, Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH) Response to Cholera and Emergency Preparedness, aims to support: (a) immediate cholera response measures; (b) strengthening of sanitation and hygiene in ten priority cholera-affected communes of the country; and (c) building of WASH sector capacity for emergency response to floods, droughts, cyclones, and outbreaks of vector-borne and waterborne diseases. 2) The second component, WASH Service Development, has the following sub-components: (i) Priority Water Supply Infrastructure; and (ii) WASH Services at Scale. 3) The third component, Sector-Wide Results-based Strengthening, has the following sub-components: (i) Project Management; (ii) Development of Institutional Capacity; and (iii) Support to National Water and Sanitation Directorate (DINEPA) Structure for Sustainability. 4) The fourth component, Contingent Emergency Response, would be activated upon request from the Government of Haiti (GoH), according to the provisions of the Project Operations Manual (POM).
