Digital Sao Tome and Principe

The development objective of Digital Sao Tome and Principe Project is to improve equity and sustainability of telecommunications services between the islands of São Tomé and Príncipe, and strengthen data governance, data systems and statistical capacity. This project has five components. 1) The first component, Digital access, has the following sub-components: (i) Enabling environment for broadband market development and digital access; (ii) Connectivity to Príncipe; and (iii) School connectivity. 2) The second component, has the following sub-components: (i) Legal, strategic and policy frameworks; and (ii) Shared digital government platforms and services. 3) The third component, Housing and population census, has the following sub-components: (i) Preparation of the Census; (ii) Census data collection; and (iii) Analysis of results and dissemination. 4) The fourth component, Project management and coordination, will finance the borrower’s project management and coordination capacity, including procurement, financial management (FM), monitoring and evaluation (M&E), as well as environmental and social (E&S) management. 4) The fourth component, Project management and coordination, aims to finance the Borrower’s project management and coordination capacity, including procurement, financial management (FM), monitoring and evaluation (M&E), as well as environmental and social (E&S) management. 5) The fifth component, Contingent Emergency Response, is added to the project structure to help the government respond swiftly to eligible crisis or emergency, including climate and natural disasters, and public health emergencies.
