The development objective of Transport and Connectivity Support Project for Democratic Republic of Congo is to provide resilient, safe, and sustainable connectivity in and between selected provinces in Kasai region and Eastern part of DRC, and to increase the transparency of FONER, RVA, and the Regulatory Authority of Post, Telecommunications, and ICT. This project has four components. 1) The first component, Sectoral Governance for Improved Connectivity, has the following sub-components: (i) Technical Assistance to Road Sector Governance; (ii) Technical Assistance to Aviation Sector Governance; (iii) Technical Assistance to the Digital Sector Governance; and (iv) Project Management. 2) The second component, Transport and Digital Connectivity Improvement Program, has the following sub-components: (i) Roads Connectivity Improvement; (ii) Aviation Infrastructure Improvement; and (iii) Enabling Digital Infrastructure. 3) The third component, Environment and Social Measures, has the following sub-components: (i) Support the Implementation of Environmental and Social Standards; (ii) Sustainable Forest Management and Preservation; (iii) Management of Vehicle Motorization for Emission Reduction; and (iv) Gender Empowerment Activities. 4) The fourth component, Contingent Emergency Response, is included in the project in accordance with Investment Project Financing (IPF) Policy, paragraphs 12 and 13, for Situations of urgent need of assistance and capacity constraints.
