Eastern Türkiye Middle Corridor Railway Development Project

The development objective of the Eastern Türkiye Middle Corridor Railway Development Project for Türkiye is to improve the rail connectivity of eastern Türkiye along the Divrigi-Kars-Georgia border railway section of the Trans-Caspian Middle Corridor. The project comprises 2 components. 1) The first component, Rehabilitation and Modernization of the Divrigi-Kars-Georgia Border Railway Line, has the following sub-components: (i) Design and infrastructure and superstructure works for the Divrigi-Kars section of the target line, plus electrification and signalization of the entire Divrigi-Kars-Georgia border line; (ii) Design and infrastructure and superstructure works for the Kars-Georgia border section of the target line; and (iii) Design supervision and construction supervision services for the rehabilitation and modernization of the Divrigi-Kars-Georgia border railway line. 2) The second component, Project Management, will finance the mobilization of a specialized firm with expertise in project management, engineering design and construction (including climate resilience), social and environmental monitoring, citizen engagement, results monitoring and evaluation, and other aspects of project implementation oversight, to staff the Project Implementation Unit (PIU).
