The development objective of Electricity Access Scale-up Project for Uganda is to increase access to energy for households, commercial enterprises, industrial parks, and public institutions. This project has five components. 1) The first component, Grid Expansion and Connectivity, has the following sub-components: (i) Last-mile connections; and (ii) Network expansion and strengthening. 2) The second component, Financial Intermediation for Energy Access Scale-up, has the following sub-components: (i) Financial intermediation through participating financial institutions; and (ii) Electrification of public institutions by stand-alone solar technologies. 3) The third component, Energy Access in Refugee Host Communities, has the following sub-components: (i) Grid connectivity and expansion; and (ii) Financial intermediation through participating financial institutions. 4) The fourth component, Project Implementation Support and Affordable Modern Energy Solutions, has the following sub-components: (i) Project implementation support; and (ii) Enabling environment. 5) The fifth component, Contingent Emergency Response Component, will allow for rapid reallocation of credit or grant uncommitted funds in the event of an eligible emergency as defined in OP 8.00.
