Opportunity Overview

The development objective of Enhancing Labor Mobility Project is to strengthen government systems in Papua New Guinea that support workers and their households to benefit from overseas employment opportunities, with a focus on women and disadvantaged groups. This project has four components. 1) The first component, Strengthen systems and worker readiness to enhance benefits from overseas employment opportunities, has the following sub-components: (i) Strengthen systems that support efficient selection, recruitment and mobilization; (ii) Support work readiness training; and (iii) Improve worker support and outreach. 2) The second component, Enhance equity in access to and benefits from labor mobility opportunities, has the following sub-components: (i) Enhanced outreach and preparatory support for disadvantaged groups; (ii) Support for financial literacy; and (iii) Technical assistance to examine options for reducing and financing pre-departure costs. 3) The third component, Boost household impacts from employment overseas, aims to support the development and delivery of reintegration support services aimed at ensuring smooth, successful integration of returned migrants in PNG, thereby enhancing the benefits of labor mobility for individuals, migrant families and their communities. 4) The fourth component, Project management and monitoring, aims to finance the administrative, implementation and management costs of the project.
