Enhancing Sierra Leone Energy Access

The development objective of Enhancing Sierra Leone Energy Access Project is to increase electricity access in Sierra Leone. This project has three components. 1) The first component, Electrification of towns and communities through grid extension, supports activities to provide electricity services to seven major towns and surrounding communities by capitalizing on the availability of grid electricity through the imports over the Côte d'Ivoire -Liberia-Sierra Leone-Guinea (CLSG) interconnection. 2) The second component, Electrification through mini-grids and stand-alone solar systems, includes the following sub-components: (i) Installation of Photovoltaic (PV) mini-grids with battery storage capacity; (ii) ) Installation of solar PV systems for selected health facilities and schools; (iii) Provision of Technical Assistance (TA) for market assessment, capacity building, result monitoring and evaluation (M&E). 3) The third component, Human capital development and project implementation support, includes two sub-components.
