The objective of the Enhancing Waterway Connectivity and Water Service Provision in Pazcifico Project for Colombia is to improve: (a) waterway transport; and (b) coverage and quality of water supply and sanitation services, in the Participating Municipalities. There are four components to the project, the first component being improving waterway transport in participating municipalities. This component includes two subcomponents: improving waterway navigation and safety, and improving access to waterway transport in participating municipalities. The second component is the improving water supply and sanitation services in participating municipalities. The participating municipalities for WSS investments are identified based on: (i) number of beneficiaries and poverty level, (ii) need to ensure provision of integrated services (water and sanitation), (iii) amount of investment, and (iv) readiness. The third component is the capacity building and institutional strengthening for waterway transport operators and WSS service providers in participating municipalities. This component includes two subcomponents: strengthening waterway transport, and strengthening WSS provision. Finally, the fourth component is the project management and environmental and social management.
