Eskom Just Energy Transition Project

The development objective of Eskom Just Energy Transition Project for South Africa is to (i) decommission the Komati coal-fired power plant, (ii) repurpose the project area with renewables, and (iii) create opportunities for workers and communities during the transition process. This project has three components. 1) The first component, Komati Decommissioning, has the following sub-components: (i) Subcomponent A.1; and (ii) Subcomponent A.2. 2) The second component, Komati Repurposing, has the following sub-components: (i) Subcomponent B.1.; (ii) Subcomponent B.2; and (iii) Subcomponent B.3. 3) The third component, Opportunities for Workers and Communities, has the following sub-components: (i) Transition Support to Komati Permanent Workers, Suppliers, and Contract Workers; (ii) Community Development and Economic Diversification; and (iii) Stakeholder Engagement and Community Empowerment.
