Light scattering spectroscopy using optical coherence tomography

This project involves the development of a novel optical biomedical imaging technique. It makes use of both novel light sources, photonic integration and detection schemes as well as a novel optical design for performing optical coherence tomography (OCT). The project aims to first characterise the imaging properties of this novel system before modifying the design of the system to add further functionality. The developed system will be applied to clinical imaging. It is expected that this new system will allow for a range of retinal diseases to be imaged optically, which are currently unable to be imaged. This will lead to improvements in health and also a reduction in the cost of providing care. The project is early-stage research targeting TRL2-4.
