Targeted Supramolecular Nutrition for Low-P&K, High-Performance Wheat

This project will test a new **foliar nutrition programme** designed to maintain wheat yield and grain quality while using less phosphate (P) and potash (K) fertiliser. The technology supplies nutrients as small, non-ionic molecular complexes that move naturally within the plant, allowing fertiliser inputs to be reduced without affecting crop performance.

Two commercial farms in Oxfordshire and Northamptonshire will run replicated field trials over two growing seasons, comparing standard and reduced fertiliser programmes with and without the foliar treatments. Independent researchers at **NIAB** will oversee trial design, soil and tissue testing, and statistical analysis to ensure transparent, evidence-based results.

The project aims to cut fertiliser use, lower embedded carbon, and improve nutrient efficiency across UK arable systems. Results will be shared publicly through NIAB's national network and farmer organisations to help growers adopt practical, lower-input nutrient strategies that support both profitability and environmental goals.
