This project will, for the first time, provide a global history of West Germany's 'second-wave' feminist movement (the 'Neue Frauenbewegung'). In doing so, it addresses a scholarly lacuna in what is becoming the dynamic field of the history of global feminist mobilisation. By means of archival research and oral history methods, the project reveals how, from 1968 until the fall of the Berlin Wall in 1989, transnational relationships, shared global imaginaries, as well as the international exchange of ideologies and cultural ephemera enabled the Neue Frauenbewegung to participate in a web of cross-continental feminist networks.
