Opportunity Overview

The development objective of Growing Up Healthy Together : Comprehensive Early Childhood Development in El Salvador Project are to: (i) strengthen health promotion behaviors among children aged 0 to 7 and their mothers during preconception and gestation; (ii) strengthen the early identification of risks and developmental delays in children aged 0 to 7; and (iii) improve the provision of quality maternal and child health care services. This project has four components. 1) Promoting Human Capital Accumulation in Children 0 to 7 years and Their Mothers During Preconception and Gestation, has the following subcomponents: (i) Promoting Human Capital Accumulation during Preconception, Pregnancy, and Safe and Dignified Delivery; (ii) Promotion of Human Capital Accumulation from birth to 3 years of age; and (iii) Promotion of Human Capital Accumulation from 4 to 7 Years of Age. 2) The second component, Modernization, Streamlining, and Strengthening of MINSAL for the Public Provision of Maternal and Child Health, aims to strengthen the governance and regulatory capacity of MINSAL as well as the management and technical efficiency of the health-care network. 3) The third component, Contingency Emergency Response Component (CERC), aims to be activated to facilitate the use of critical resources in the event of a national emergency associated with a natural or man-made crisis or disaster, including a sanitary alert or an epidemiological emergency in the public health sector. 4) The fourth component, Project Management and Monitoring, seeks to support the strengthening of El Salvador Ministry of Health (MINSAL's) capacity to administer, implement, supervise, and evaluate project activities.
