The objective of the Harnessing the Demographic Dividend Project is to support the Government of Mozambique in increasing empowerment, access to education, and employment opportunities for targeted youth. The project consists of three components: (a) component one: empowering and educating adolescents, financing investments in life skills development, information on sexual and reproductive health (SRH), GBV and education services, and support for community engagement, and activities aimed at keeping girls in school; (b) component two: promoting opportunities for productive employment, financing activities aimed at supporting the launch of new businesses, the growth of existing ones, and improvements in productivity; and (c) component three: strengthening youth policy development and project management. Each component is described in detail in the following paragraphs. Sections II.F and IV.A and annex 3 in this document provide more information on how the design of project activities was informed by: (i) multiple consultations and discussions with key stakeholders, including youth groups; (ii) a stocktaking exercise of ongoing relevant programs in Mozambique; (iii) field visits of some of the most relevant programs; and (iv) a review of relevant international evidence.
