Opportunity Overview

The development objective of the Strengthening National Tuberculosis (TB) Response Program (NTP) for Indonesia is to improve coverage, quality, and efficiency of tuberculosis services in Indonesia. Indonesia’s NTP focuses on expanding case finding, retaining treated cases, and strengthening interventions for drug-resistant cases, with improved information systems to reduce underreporting and to achieve its ambitious goal of 90 percent reduction in new TB cases by 2030. The document defines three technical strategies that address the TB program intervention areas (prevention, diagnostics, and treatment) and is supported by three strategies meant to respond to contextual issues, that is, functional strategies. The technical strategies are as follows: (a) increasing access to high-quality and patient-centered TB diagnosis and treatment services; (b) optimizing promotion and prevention efforts and providing TB prevention therapy and infection control; and (c) increasing communities’, partners’, and multi-sectoral participation in TB elimination efforts.
