Opportunity Overview

The objective of the Off-grid Solar Access Project for Underserved Counties is to increase access to modern energy services in underserved counties of Kenya. There are four components to the project, the first component being mini-grids for community facilities, enterprises, and households. This component will support the electrification of areas where electricity supply through mini-grids represents the least-cost option from a country perspective, as underpinned by the geospatial plan. The second component is the stand-alone solar systems and clean cooking solutions for households. This component includes two subcomponents: stand-alone solar systems for households, and clean cooking solutions for households. The third component is the stand-alone solar systems and solar water pumps for community facilities. This component includes two subcomponents: stand-alone solar systems for community facilities, and solar water pumps for community facilities. Finally, the fourth component is the implementation support and capacity building. This component includes two subcomponents: consumer education and citizen engagement, and implementation support and capacity building.
