Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Integrated Tourism Development Project

The development objective of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Integrated Tourism Development Project for Pakistan is to improve tourism-enabling infrastructure, enhance tourism assets, and strengthen destination management for sustainable tourism development in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The project comprises of four components. The first component, sector enablement and tourism entrepreneurship aims to strengthen and formalize Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s travel and tourism (T and T) sector. The second component, infrastructure planning and development will support the provincial government with the planning and development of the public infrastructure, while identifying the opportunities for mobilizing private sector investments. The third component, project management and capacity building will support the following activities: (a) supporting project management and capacity building; (b) implementing environmental preservation and waste management activities; and (c) carrying out civil works for the appropriate functioning of Project Management Unit - Department of Culture, Sports, Tourism, and Youth Affairs (PMU-DoT) and PMU - Communication and Works Department (C and W). The fourth component, contingent emergency response component will provide immediate response to an eligible crisis or emergency, as needed.
