Learning Acceleration in Secondary Education Operation

The development objective of the Learning Acceleration in Secondary Education (LAISE) Operation for Bangladesh is to improve student learning and retention and build system resilience in secondary education. LAISE will support secondary education program (SEP) through three results areas (RAs). RA1: student support for improved learning, retention, and resilience through improved and inclusive curriculum for better learning outcomes for all students, including improved assessment and enhanced learning opportunities, reading habit development, access to information and communication technology (ICT) and blended learning for resilience, mental and physical wellbeing for improved retention, and initiatives for improved student access to secondary education. RA2: improved teacher competency through enhanced support and capacity development for learning acceleration, climate change education, continuous teacher professional development, and enhanced leadership and management capacity. RA3: improved secondary systems and resilience through introduction and rolling out of blended learning, improved inspection and online monitoring, improved climate change behaviors, and supporting vocational education in the secondary schools.
