Opportunity Overview

The objective of the Learning for the Future Project for Kyrgyz Republic is to enhance school readiness and teacher effectiveness in pre-school through secondary education in targeted communities. The Project has two components. 1. Enhancing Teaching and Learning component will increase equitable access to quality Early Childhood Education (ECE) and enhance the effectiveness of teaching-learning practices in preschool through secondary education. There are four subcomponents. 1.1. Expanded school readiness for underserved children subcomponent will increase access to ECE in poor rural areas with no or low access, through establishing Community-based Kindergartens (CbKs). The project will support the creation of 500 new CbKs enrolling approximately 20,000 children aged 3–5 years. 1.2. Increased effectiveness in teaching practice subcomponent will finance a start-of-service training program for approximately 500 newly hired teachers. This includes content on how to teach children with special needs, building on the program that was rolled out during the previous project. 1.3. Technology-enabled support for learning subcomponent will strengthen teacher capacities for effective teaching through digital resources aligned to the new curriculum that complement new textbooks. 1.4. Enhancing measurement of learning subcomponent enhance the measurement system and its capacity for assessing student learning outcomes in cognitive and non-cognitive domains, by gender. 2. Managing Implementation for Results component has the following subcomponents: 2.1. Implementation support subcomponent will support the coordination, technical quality, and fiduciary integrity of implementation and the monitoring, evaluation, and reporting on project processes and results. It also supports systems to collect beneficiary feedback to inform project implementation. 2.2.
