The purpose of the COVID-19 Emergency Response Project in Liberia is to prevent, detect and respond to the threat posed by COVID-19 (Coronavirus) and strengthen national systems for public health preparedness. This project consists of five components. Component one will provide immediate support to Liberia to prepare and respond to COVID-19 (Coronavirus) importation and local transmission of cases through containment strategies and provision. There are three subcomponents: (i) Support to National and Sub-national, Preparedness and Response; (ii) Support for case detection, confirmation, contact tracing, recording and reporting, and; (iii) Support to the surveillance system to facilitate recording and on-time virtual sharing of information. Component two will support activities to strengthen disease surveillance systems in public health laboratories and epidemiological capacity for early detection and confirmation of cases. Component three will finance the strengthening of public health services to increase the capacity of the public health system for the response to COVID-19. There are three subcomponents: (i) Strengthening of health facilities and service delivery; (ii) Strengthening of the human resource surge, and; (iii) Logistics and emergency ambulance services. Component four is Community Engagement, Risk Communication, and Advocacy. There are three subcomponents: (i) Community engagement; (ii) Risk communication and advocacy, and; (iii) Social and community support. Component five is Project Management and Coordination, Monitoring and Evaluation. It has two subcomponents: (i) Project Management, and; (ii) Monitoring and Evaluation.
