Maldives Urban Development and Resilience Project

The development objective of Urban Development and Resilience Project is to enhance resilient infrastructure and urban planning in selected cities in Maldives and strengthen the government’s capacity to provide effective response to disasters. This project has four components, 1) The first component, Resilient Infrastructure and Emergency Preparedness, has the following sub-components: (i) Resilient Infrastructure; and (ii) Strengthening emergency response systems. 2) The second component, Sustainable Urban Planning, Development and Management, has the following sub-components: (i) Analytical studies on sustainable urban infrastructure and services; and (ii) Strengthening enforcement mechanism of building code and regulations. 3) The third component, Project implementation, management and reporting, aims to finance incremental operating costs, project implementation staff and consultants, monitoring and evaluation, communications, and relevant trainings. 4) The fourth component, Contingent Emergency Response Component (CERC), provides immediate response to an eligible crisis or emergency, as needed.
