The development objective of the Mato Grosso Sustainable Development of Family Farming Project for Brazil is to improve the access to markets, climate resilience, and land and environmental management of selected family farmers in the State of Mato Grosso and in case of an eligible crisis or emergency, respond promptly and effectively to it. The project comprises of four components. The first component, climate-smart economic inclusion will support the climate resilience of family farmers in Mato Grosso and improve their market linkages to sustain resilient production models over time. It consists of following sub-components: (i) pre-investments for the preparation of climate-smart agriculture (CSA) family farming business plans; and (ii) productive investments in CSA family farming business plans. The second component, improved land and environmental management will increase the generation of environmental benefits, including for climate resilience and mitigation, of family farming in Mato Grosso. It consists of following sub-components: (i) support for land and environmental regularization; and (ii) prevention and control of forest fire and deforestation in family farming areas. The third component, project management and coordination objectives are to provide the Project Management Unit (PMU) with the conditions and information necessary for the effective management and coordination of the project. The fourth component, contingency emergency response component (CERC) will provide for an immediate response to an eligible crisis or emergency, as needed.
