Mauritania Youth Employability Project

The development objective of the Youth Employability Project for Mauritania is to promote the employability of vulnerable youth in selected areas. The project comprises of five components. The first component, orientation, job counseling, and life skills training will support a series of activities to provide intake, orientation, job counseling and career guidance, job search assistance, life skills and employment readiness training, and mentoring. The second component, technical skills training and internship will seek to strengthen the employability of vulnerable youth through short-term technical skills training and internships in private-sector firms to prepare them for paid, formal or informal employment. The third component, fostering micro-entrepreneurship for income-generating activities will address key constraints and market failures that prevent self-employment for vulnerable youth. The fourth component, contingency emergency response will allow for rapid reallocation of project proceeds in the event of a natural or man‐made disaster or crisis that has caused or is likely to imminently cause a major adverse economic and or social impact. The fifth component, project management, monitoring and evaluation (M and E) will support activities related to project management, M and E, and implementation, including for fiduciary matters, environmental and social standards, procurement, communication, planning, audits, necessary equipment, training, and operating costs, as well as costs and technical assistance to strengthen the Coordination Unit for Employment Projects (CPE) for purposes of project implementation.
