Mexico Promoting Women’s Economic Opportunities and Sustainable Productivity Growth DPL

The development objective of the Promoting Women’s Economic Opportunities and Sustainable Productivity Growth Development Policy Loan for Mexico is to supports components of the authorities’ policy measures promoting: (a) women’s economic opportunities; and (b) sustainable productivity growth. The operation supports policy reforms that seek to increase women’s ownership of assets and their ability to create and expand businesses by facilitating their access to finance. Second, the reforms supported will facilitate women’s access to jobs and increase female labor force participation by improving the efficiency and safety of mobility that addresses the specific needs of women and by increasing social protection for domestic workers and the overall safety and security of women against gender-based violence (GBV). It supports key government priorities, such as increasing the value proposition of labor market participation for women, increasing the channels of financial inclusion, expanding income protection for working women and vulnerable workers, creating safer environments for women (including in public transport), improving urban connectivity in a manner aligned with climate mitigation and safety objectives, and maximizing the positive climate and social impacts of infrastructure projects and services financed by Mexico’s national development bank.
