The Federal Ministry of Health and Social Welfare (FMOH&SW) is implementing an ambitious health sector transformation agenda through the Nigeria Health Sector Renewal Investment Initiative (NHSRII) and the adoption of a Sector-Wide Approach (SWAp) to improve coordination, efficiency, accountability, and health outcomes across the country. The NHSRII serves as the Government of Nigeria’s flagship reform platform for strengthening primary healthcare, improving maternal, newborn, child, adolescent and elderly health outcomes, expanding financial protection, strengthening governance and accountability systems, and accelerating progress toward Universal Health Coverage (UHC). The reform agenda is supported by multiple government institutions, development partners, donors, and implementing entities operating across federal, state, and local government levels. The Government has received financing from the World Bank and intends to apply part of the proceeds for consulting services.
