Opportunity Overview

The development objective of the Crisis-Resilient Social Protection (CRISP) Program-for-Results (PforR) Project for Pakistan is to support the development of a more adaptive social protection system that will contribute to any future crisis-resilience among poor and vulnerable households. The program is structured around three result areas (RAs). The first RA is building CR delivery systems. It consists of following sub-RAs: (i) innovations to the social registry; and (ii) beneficiary-centric biometric payment systems. The second RA, developing innovative hybrid social protection scheme will support a hybrid scheme that blends social assistance with social risk mitigation elements to promote savings that informal sector workers can fall back on in case of shocks, while also providing a platform through which the government can more rapidly deploy additional support during a crisis. The third RA is protecting human capital in the early and primary school years. It consists of following sub-RAs: (i) improved health and nutrition in the early years; and (ii) incentivizing school enrollment and retention.
