Pathways to Sustainable Livelihoods Project

The development objective of Pathways to Sustainable Livelihoods Project for Lesotho is to improve the efficiency and equity of selected social assistance programs and to strengthen the livelihoods of poor and vulnerable households. This project has four components. 1) The first component, Strengthening livelihoods with economic and social inclusion activities, has the following sub-components: (i) Economic inclusion activities and referral services; and (ii) Disability inclusiveness. 2) The second component, Contingency finance for shock-responsive social assistance, provides contingency financing to enable the efficient delivery of emergency cash transfers during a crisis. 3) The third component, Developing equitable and efficient social assistance delivery systems, will strengthen delivery systems with an emphasis on improving equity. 4) The fourth component, Project management, monitoring and evaluation (M&E) and capacity building, aims to strengthen institutional capacity of the Ministry of Social Development (MoSD), which is the implementing agency for project interventions.
