Peru: Strengthening of the Public Health Emergency Preparedness and Response

The development objective of the Strengthening of the Public Health Emergency Preparedness and Response Project for Peru is to strengthen epidemiological surveillance and public health emergency preparedness in Peru. The project comprises of five components. The first component, surveillance strategies, governance, and protocols will finance technical assistance activities to update the design, formulation, and implementation of the new national surveillance and disease prevention system. The second component, supporting infrastructure, equipment, and software will finance the infrastructure, laboratory, and information technology (IT) equipment, and software necessary to implement the national surveillance and disease-prevention system described under component 1. The third component, strengthening human resource capacity will finance training and technical assistance to strengthen human resource capacities in public health, environmental health, health intelligence, and laboratory diagnostics. The fourth component, project management and monitoring will finance support for a project management team (PMT) that will provide day-to-day project management. The fifth component, contingency emergency response (CERC) is included under the project for situations of urgent need of assistance, as a project specific CERC.
