Renewable Energy and Improved Utility Performance Project

The development objectives of the Renewable Energy and Improved Utility Performance Project for Cabo Verde are to: (i) increase renewable energy generation; and (ii) improve the performance of the electricity utility in Cabo Verde by leveraging private finance. The project comprises of three components. The first component, renewable and efficient electricity service consists of following sub-components: (i) small-scale variable renewable energy integration; and (ii) resilient and efficient electricity services to public health facilities. The second component, advisory services for electricity sector restructuring and privatization objectives are to reduce the fiscal burden of the energy sector on the public sector and reduce system losses through improved management. The third component, project implementation support and technical assistance will provide support for the preparation and implementation of the project as well as to National Directorate of Industry, Commerce, and Industry (DNICE) to improve power system planning capabilities for the implementation of the master plan for the power sector in the context of the restructuring and privatization of Electricity and Water Company (ELECTRA). It consists of following sub-components: (i) project implementation support; and (ii) technical assistance and capacity building.
