Solomon Islands Community Benefits Sharing Project -- Phase 2

The development objective of the Second Phase of the Community Benefits Sharing Project is to enable target communities to benefit from improved access to and use of basic infrastructure and services and to operationalize the Community Benefit Sharing Fund (CBSF). There are four components to the project, the first component being operationalize the community benefit sharing fund. Component 1 will seek to operationalize the Community Benefits Sharing Fund ('Fund') by installing and testing the institutional arrangements for the Fund’s operations and by building capacity for Fund management and oversight. This component includes two subcomponents: institutional support to the fund, and CBSF community sub-projects. The second component is to improve access to basic services. This component will support access improvements to basic public services for the project’s target communities. This component includes three subcomponents: rural water supply, rural road improvements, and rural electrification. The third component is the Enhance Skills of Community Members. This component will support activities that aim to increase CBSP community members’ knowledge and confidence to participate in the CBSF processes and local economic development opportunities, and to provide knowledge and skills aimed at income-generating opportunities in both the formal and informal sectors. Finally, the fourth component is the project management, monitoring and evaluation. This component will support project management and administration, monitoring and evaluation, and reporting. As under the CBSP Pilot, the CBSP2 Project Management Unit (PMU) will be closely linked with the Project Office (PO) of TRHDP, which has helped support synergies between the two projects, and the offices may be co-located depending on available office space.
