Sudan Health Assistance and Response to Emergencies

The development objective of the Health Assistance and Response to Emergencies Project for Sudan is to restore access to a basic package of health and nutrition services and preserve the main elements of essential public health functions. The project comprises of three components. The first component, improving access to basic health and nutrition services aims to enhance access to basic health and nutrition services in Sudan through low-cost, high impact interventions using a primary health care (PHC) approach. It consists of following sub-components: (i) strengthening the integration of primary health care model; (ii) supporting health and nutrition services at the first level referral centers and hospitals; (iii) climate change adaptive health service delivery; (iv) climate change resilient health facilities; and (v) integrating digital solutions to service delivery. The second component, preserving the main elements of the health system will focus on strengthening health systems and public health programs and improving the main elements of the health system to prepare for and respond to health emergencies and control diseases by strengthening emergency preparedness, laboratory, and disease control systems. The third component, monitoring and evaluation (M and E) and project management will finance costs related to M and E and management of project activities. It consists of following sub-components: (i) third party monitoring (TPM) (competitively selected TPM agency); (ii) data analysis and knowledge management; and (iii) project management.
