Support for resilient livelihoods in the South of Madagascar

The development objective of Support for resilient livelihoods in the South of Madagascar Project is to improve access to basic infrastructure and livelihood opportunities, and strengthen local governance in southern Madagascar with a primary focus on youth and women. This project has five components. 1) The first component, Strengthening Decentralized Local Governments, Participatory Planning and Social Resilience, has the following sub-components: (i) Strengthening the decentralized territorial collectives; and (ii) Strengthening social resilience, citizen engagement, and conflict prevention. 2) The second component, Resiliency Infrastructure, has the following sub-components: (i) Commune resiliency grants; and (ii) Regional water resiliency infrastructure. 3) The third component, Supporting Resilient Livelihoods, has the following sub-components: (i) Support for community-based organizations and local value chains; and (ii) Irrigation schemes for resilient livelihoods. 4) The fourth component, Implementation Support and Knowledge Learning, has the following sub-components: (i) Project implementation and geospatial knowledge platform; and (ii) Studies and preparatory analysis for Series of Projects (SOP). 5) The fifth component, Contingent Emergency Response Component, under the Contingent Emergency Response Component (CERC), in the event of an eligible crisis or emergency, funds may be reallocated from other components of the project.
