Support to COVID-19 Vaccine Purchase and Health System Strengthening

The development objective of the Support to Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) Vaccine Purchase and Health System Strengthening Project for Comoros is to prevent, detect, and respond to the threat posed by COVID-19 and strengthen national systems for public health preparedness. The project comprises of three components. The first component, vaccines and related supplies provision and deployment consists of following sub-components: (i) acquisition of COVID-19 vaccines and related supplies; (ii) vaccine deployment and delivery; (iii) communications and community engagement; and (iv) support to COVID-19 response. The second component, health system strengthening for a stronger COVID-19 response consists of following sub-components: (i) strengthening health emergency coordination and structures; (ii) strengthening of disease surveillance and health management information system; (iii) improving energy supply for health structure; and (iv) project implementation and monitoring. The third component, contingent emergency response component (CERC) will facilitate access to rapid financing by allowing for the reallocation of uncommitted project funds in the event of a natural disaster, either by a formal declaration of a national emergency or upon a formal request from the government.
