Sustainable and Integrated Labor Services (SAILS)

The development objective of the Sustainable Integrated Labor Services (SAILS) Project for Maldives is to improve social protection coverage and employability of Maldivian workers. The project comprises of four components. The first component, integrated labor market services will enable: (a) establishment of policy and legal framework; (b) strengthening internal systems for program administration; (c) development and implementation of the employment services (ES) scheme; and (d) establishment of the job center service centers nationwide. The second component, strengthening social insurance will enable: (a) provision of seed financing of UI solidarity fund; (b) strengthening of internal systems and processes for fund administration; (c) financial management, compliance, and audit; and (d) strategic planning for the sustainability of social insurance. The third component, project management will carry out the day-to-day coordination, financial management, procurement, environmental and social management, communication, monitoring and evaluation and stakeholder engagement and outreach of Project activities.
