Opportunity Overview

The objective of the Second Sustainable Cities Project is to improve the access to targeted municipal services in participating municipalities and utilities. There are two components to the project, the first component being municipal investments. This component will finance demand‐driven municipal infrastructure investments. Sectors eligible for investment include, but are not restricted to, public transport, water and sanitation, solid waste management, and energy. In the water sector, it is anticipated that the sub‐borrower will be the utility company, with a guarantee provided by the municipality. The component will finance goods, works, and non‐consulting and consultant services, including the hiring of local technical consultants for engineering design and construction supervision. Finally, the second component is the project management. This component will finance goods, non-consulting and consultancy services for project management, monitoring and evaluation (M&E), and outreach and communication.
