Tajikistan Preparedness and Resilience to Disasters Project

The development objective of Preparedness and Resilience to Disasters Project for Tajikistan is to : (a) To support disaster recovery, strengthen the resilience of critical roads, and enhance disaster risk management capacity; and (b) in the case of an eligible crisis or emergency, respond promptly and effectively to it. This project has four components. 1) The first component, Building Road Resilience, has the following sub-components: (i) Rehabilitation of roads damaged by the 2021 floods; and (ii) Protection and reinforcement of priority roads. 2) The second component, Strengthening Disaster Risk Management Capacity, has the following sub-components: (i) Strengthening regional crisis management centers and systems; (ii) Modernizing disaster communication and information systems; (iii) Capacity building for emergency response; (iv) Strengthening the basis for structural and seismic resilience; (v) Disaster risk financing. 3) The third component, Project Management, will support incremental operating costs for the implementing agencies (IAs). 4) The fourth component, Contingent Emergency Response Component (CERC) is to enhance Tajikistan’s capacity to respond to climate shocks, natural disasters and other eligible crises.
