Stoyanovo – Ardino – Boyno - Kardzhali" at km 57+110" Existing situation: The road section is located outside a settlement, on the territory of the Kardzhali municipality. The terrain is mountainous. The section is in a horizontal curve with a small radius. On the right side of the road, as the mileage increases, a retaining wall of stone masonry has been built with a height of about 7 m. and a length of 22 m., and on the left side there is a shoulder and an earthen trench. The damage to the retaining wall of stone masonry is significant. The asphalt pavement has separated from the wall. Transverse cracks of more than 10 mm have formed on the concrete cap of the retaining wall. The design speed is 50 km/h, with a minimum longitudinal slope. The section is in a mixed profile: on the left – in a trench, slope of soil and rock fragments, and on the right - an embankment, which in the affected section has collapsed to about 5 m. The length of the affected section is about 20 m., and the collapse itself is about 5 m long. The road in the section has two lanes for traffic, with the following gauge: lanes: 2 x 3.5 m. - 7.00 m.; width of the shoulder: 1.00 m; width of the earth trench: 1.00 m; total gauge: 9.00 m. Construction of the existing pavement: wearing layer of dense asphalt concrete type A - 4 cm. non-dense asphalt concrete - 4 cm; crushed stone pavement - 15 cm; base of ballast - 35 cm. As a result of a road accident - impact on the installed restraint system, anchored in the concrete cap of the retaining wall, as well as the large operational period of the road structure, a part of the retaining wall has separated from the road body and the stonework has been destroyed. The restriction system is compromised. No concentration of traffic accidents has been established in this section.
