During World War II, an underground military ammunition depot was built in Mitholz, Canton of Bern. In 1947, some of the stored ammunition exploded. The risk assessment of the remaining ammunition depot, carried out at that time, was deemed non-critical. However, new risk assessments from 2018 and 2020 have revealed a higher risk than previously assumed. On December 4, 2020, the Federal Council decided to clear the former ammunition depot and commissioned an expanded project organization to plan and design the necessary work. This tender seeks the contract for planning the excavation pits and materials management.
