The capacity expansion on the Zurich–Zug–Lucerne line, as decided in STEP AS 2035, requires extensive infrastructure upgrades to eliminate this bottleneck. The most important element is the Zimmerberg Base Tunnel 2 between Thalwil and Litti. In addition, infrastructure upgrades are needed at the Baar, Baar Neufeld, Baar Lindenpark, and Zug stations, as well as a third track between Baar and Zug. SBB (Swiss Federal Railways) has developed a preliminary project for the expansion between Baar and Zug. Integrating a third track necessitates adjustments to the stations and stops along the affected section. An additional fourth platform edge will be constructed at Baar station. At Zug station, the entire northern end must be adapted to the new track layout, and a new pedestrian underpass will be built concurrently on behalf of the city of Zug. The cable planner is responsible for the following services: project planning, drafting, and construction management for the cable installations between Baar and Zug and the adjacent areas. A major component of the project involves the planning and coordination of the cable protection system and the cables for all involved departments. Services will be provided for Phase 32 of the construction project up to and including Phase 53 (commissioning/documentation). The following tasks constitute a significant part of the contract (this list is not exhaustive): - Complete cable protection system between Baar and Zug, including the train stations - Development of new signal boxes - Connection to the existing network and new crossings for future projects - Low-voltage, high-voltage, and medium-voltage, traction power, and telecommunications cables - Temporary cable protection during construction - Temporary cables during construction to ensure system availability - Dismantling of cable protection and cables within the entire project perimeter
